Ask Questions

This is an excellent web site to look at because there are menus you can look at for most of the Sanibel and Captiva Restaurants:

http://www.cuisine-scene.com/

The Sanibel-Captiva Visitor's center has menus for almost every restaurant.

Sanibel:   41 Restaurants

                9 Deli, Take Out

Captiva:   12 Restaurants

                 3 Deli, Take Out

And additional places for delicious ice cream or frozen yogurt!

Ground coffee beans to take home:  Sanibel Bean 2240 Periwinkle Way.

Savings Tips:

  • Before you leave home, go to www.restaurant.com and type in      33957 for the zip code.  Then Refine the list of restaurants to 5 Miles and you will find savings for some restaurants on the island.  We've bought and used the Blue Giraffe (just order their crab cake) and Jacaranda coupons.

  • Look in the current Island Sun, The Sanibel/Captiva Islander, and Sunny Day guide (in the back) and you will find coupons and dinner specials.

Sanibel Restaurants Suggestions

Here are a few of our many favorites on Sanibel:

Breakfast:

The Lighthouse Cafe -CALL AHEAD SEATING- Makes the wait a lot shorter!  We always call ahead before we leave our condo.  239-472--0303

Lunch:

Over Easy Café  Breakfast & Lunch   Open 7am-2:30pm.

See their menu at www.overeasycafesanibel.com Call:472-2625

630 Tarpon Bay Road  (Cute stores are next door if there is a wait).

Everything is absolutely delicious! (Cinnamon Roll-Eggs-Sandwiches-Wraps, etc)

Eat outside by the Coconut's Pool Bar at Casa Ybel Resort when Danny Morgan is playing outside there. (The local newspapers print the schedule of musicians).   239-472-9200.

Dinner:

Special Splurges or Special Occasions:

Thistles Lodge Indoor Restaurant (at Casa Ybel Resort)- Great for a Celebration or Splurge... Kind of Dressy.  239-472-9200.  If you like Tuna....go here!  Their tuna (rare) is delicious!  We've been here for our anniversary.  When you make your reservation tell them it is your anniversary and you might get a cute card on your table.

Traders Cafe - Excellent Food!  Nut encrusted grouper is our favorite.         239-472-7242  Check out their happy hour for great savings.  This is the "locals" favorite nice restaurant.  The bread they serve is the best we've ever tasted.

Sweet Melissa's Cafe  Gourmet & Innovative & Delicious.  239-472-1956.  Pricey but very good food.  Small portions.

Very Good and More Casual Restaurants:

Gramma Dot's - In a marina...nice casual atmosphere.  Specialty is Grilled Mesquite Grouper. (You can order their lunch menu at dinner).  239-472-8138.

Doc's Ford's Sanibel - Sports Bar with great food...and a lot of tvs.  The locals go here too.  Fish Tacos are our favorite!  239-472-8311.  This is one of our favorite casual places to eat.

Cip's Place- Our guests keep sending us emails about all the delcious items they ate here! (2055 Periwinkle.)

For their amazing mouth-watering menu (and hours) go to:   http://cipsplace.com/  Also their phone is: 239-472-0223

Matzaluna - Great Pizza & Pasta - - Very close to condo.  Wood Burning Oven.  If you order lasagna you will take some home to reheat the next day!  Sometimes we order a pizza to go and eat it on our lanai with a bottle of wine.

Sanibel Grill  Great casual restaurant with burgers and sandwiches and more! 703 Tarpon Bay Road    239-472-4453

More Great Restaurants...

Sanibel Seafood Grill - Located in front of Baileys Grocery & Hardware Store.

Our favorite thing is the fish tacos...and the art work on the walls is fun to walk around to see.

The Fish House - This is so new we've only eaten here twice.  It was very good!  Casual.

Captiva:

Mucky Duck is on the beach.  Have a beverage on the beach while watching the sunset....then go in to eat.  Our favorite thing is the bacon wrapped BBQ sauce covered shrimp.  Call ahead to see if they are open....they close one day a week and it might change.  Also, they have a web camera where you can call your friends back home and if they go to Mucky Duck's website they can see you LIVE outside waving to them!

Guilty Pleasures:

Yes there is a scale in the condo's  Master Bathroom but forget dieting on Sanibel. The scale is for your luggage to make sure the shells you bring home don't go over 50 pounds.

Next to the Light House Café is an ice cream place called "Pinocchio's".

The ice cream is fantastic!  http://www.pinocchiosicecream.com/

If you prefer Frozen Yogurt and you are near Baileys, there is a  Frozen Yogurt place in Bailey's center.

Beach Bar

The Sundial now allows non-registered guests to use their beach bar. You can order something to drink and take it to the beach.  Or drink/eat there.  We prefer to take it to the beach because the main pool can be noisy with children having fun.
